Agroforestry System
We have converted approximately 50 hectares of compacted and degraded grazing land to an agroforestry system of cacao in association with timber species. Growing cacao helps improve degraded soils, restore wildlife, sequester carbon dioxide, increase oxygen emissions, and conserve water sources. The following species were selected for association in the initial phase of the project:
-
Pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan)
-
Plantain (Musa sp.)
-
Madrecacao (Gliricidia sepium)
-
Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla)
